Old Trees Over Low Ranch Roofs
Single-story ranch homes are common in Hazel Dell, and their long, low-pitched roofs catch everything that falls from the maples, oaks and firs around them. Leaves and needles sit on the shingles, hold water, and give moss a head start. The shaded half of the roof often turns green while the sunny half stays clear.
Homes near Highway 99 and NE Hazel Dell Avenue also pick up road grime that mixes with algae into dark streaks.

Gentle Cleaning for Older Roofs
Some Hazel Dell roofs are on their second or third layer of shingles, and older shingles lose granules easily. A pressure washer can speed that wear up. A soft wash uses a cleaning solution at low pressure to kill the moss and algae, and the rain carries the dead growth away over the following weeks.
If we notice damaged or lifting shingles during the estimate, we will point them out before any work starts.
